The Verdict

"The Book 2 revolutionize the Book 1 formula; it evolves it toward a more solid and structured approach. It retains the qualities that made the first generation a success—a short feel, a snug fit, and stability—but the inconsistency of the experience, such as comfort depending on the colorway and materials, is its biggest challenge…"

⚡ My Key Points
  • A board that captures the essence of the Book 1 excellent shortboard feel and great stability enhanced by a side fin.
  • Exposed midsole that allows the Cushlon 3.0 to function more effectively while controlling its compression via a thin lateral TPU strip.
  • The flatter, more angular sole design makes the heel-to-toe transition less natural, which can cause some slipping during runs on sol steep sol . Dust off frequently.
  • Generally stiffer sole construction.
  • Always has a very snug fit with a tapered shape at the forefoot. Fits true to size but takes some getting used to.
  • If you have wide feet, opt for mesh or even leather styles.

Your control of the court and quick footwork allow you to play at your own pace, just like Book.

Book’s quiet confidence? It comes from both within and the work he puts in. Book would rather let his game and the Book 2 for him. Packed with our best on-court technology, it’s lighter and more responsive than Book’s original masterpiece. The Air Zoom in the forefoot gives his first step a turbo boost. The player-approved Cushlon provides full-length cushioning. And a new ZoomX insole gives Book a soft, responsive bounce. It’s your turn.

A thick leather band wraps around the shoe for secure lateral lockdown as Book makes sudden changes of direction, pivots, and slides.

A strap system in the middle of the foot provides comfortable, secure support for quick changes of direction and sudden pivots, which Book loves to perform.

The Book features a ZoomX insole (our lightest and most responsive foam), giving the star a responsive feel.

The herringbone traction pattern featured on today's release was inspired by Book's love for the Air Force 1, drawing inspiration from the pivot circles of traditional rings that provide traction and durability.

The upper is made of a lightweight, flexible mesh that feels like a second skin, helping you and Book stay strong through the fourth quarter and beyond.

We've moved the Air Zoom unit from the heel to the forefoot for responsiveness closer to sol.
The midsole is made with our new CushIon foam, which enhances the feel underfoot for greater comfort throughout the game.
